JH Group Complete Construction of New Glass Cafe at Clifton Observatory
JH Group are delighted to have completed construction of the new glass Cafe at Clifton Observatory, Bristol.
For those who are familiar with Bristol, they’ll know that the Clifton Suspension Bridge is an iconic landmark and there are few places that can offer beautiful uninterrupted views of it, one of which is Clifton Observatory 360 Café.
In January plans were unveiled for a brand-new glass café to be built on the side of the observatory. JH Group were thrilled to be awarded the contract to carry out the complete construction of this modern year-round venue to compliment the current 360 Rooftop terrace.
The new glass café was designed by Prichard Pedlar Architects and has been constructed on the North East of the building. It beautifully frames views of green grass and woodland, perfect for cosying up with a cuppa whilst taking shelter from the elements.
Scope of works included carrying out all foundations under the watch of an archaeologist, drainage, construction of a new servery area, bin store, stone work, roofing, internal fittings as well as the landscaping and paving with a traditional Yorkstone slab. The end result is quite stunning and very in keeping with the Grade II listed building.

On Thursday 25th July 2019, the observatory held a grand opening for the café. All who attended enjoyed bubbly and canapés whilst making the most of all the observatory has to offer, and what perfect weather they had for it! The evening was captured by the talented Courtney Marie Photography .
JH Group are delighted to have worked with a local business on the development of their café and wish them a prosperous future.
